Infectious Diseases Specialist and professor at the Parasitic and Infectious Diseases at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has been conducting clinical trials since 1993, including IND studies, registered at the FDA. He coordinates a Clinical Site where he has been conducting key clinical trials, such as the STEP and iPrEx trials. He is also conducting projects on HIV immunopathogenesis, including immune activation and candidate vaccines. He also works on Dengue fever pathogenesis, diagnosis, cellular immune responses, viral characterization and vaccine development. He is currently studying the II and III phases of the trials He´s also leading a team to study Yellow Fever pathogenesis and prognostic factors.
